Do you love animals? You may be perfect for our current pet sitter job opening. We are looking for someone who wants to help pet owners by providing the highest level of care for their pets when they can’t be there and to help the pets enjoy their days without their owners. You should have experience working with animals and be knowledgeable about the general needs of puppies and dogs, kittens and cats.  You will be responsible for offering general care to include cleaning up after dogs of every breed and size.  You should love the outdoors and enjoy playing with pets who are energetic.  Our pet sitting service strives to provide high-level care while offering our contractors a flexible schedule and worker's compensation benefits.

Job Responsibilities

  • Clean up after cats, kittens, puppies, and dogs.  Includes dog waste pick up in yard and litter box cleaning.  Includes any pet messes found inside the home.

  • Exercise pets, provide mental stimulation and companionship.

  • Observe outdoor and indoor play to ensure the safety of the pet.

  • Feed and provide water, based upon client instructions, which may be very detailed and must be followed exactly as given.

  • Meet with potential clients to secure business, advertise services provided and explain the details of how pet sitting works.

  • Report any injuries or illnesses to the manager as soon as possible.

  • Respect clients’ homes and personal property when on-site offering pet sitting services.  Never leave dirty pet dishes or walk through the client's home with dirty, muddy or wet feet (yours or the pet's).

  • Provide additional customer service as requested by clients, which may include picking up mail, bringing inside packages delivered, watering plants, turning off/on lights, and opening/closing blinds or curtains.

  • Check your email each morning to get your daily schedule and up to date weekly schedule at a glance.  Start and stop the pet visits using Time To Pet and write a detailed report for each pet visit to including pictures of the pets.  Report any conflicts or issues to the manager as soon as possible but at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled sitting appointment.

  • Maintain client confidentiality and privacy at all times.

  • If you have any problem during your visit or completing your visit, contact your manager immediately.

  • You are responsible for logging your mileage and setting up a system to track your expenses for tax purposes.  Taxes are not withheld from your paycheck.  You are not reimbursed for gasoline used.  You are responsible for your own medical expenses.

 

Job Skills & Qualifications Required:

  • Must love animals

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Must have a reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license

  • Pass criminal background check

  • Ability to work varying schedules and times

  • Be able to climb stairs, bend, stoop, and lift 35 pounds

  • Must demonstrate a history of reliability

  • Must be trustworthy and responsible

  • Minimum of 5 years pet care experience required (pet ownership, previous pet sitting, shelter volunteer, pet trainer, pet groomer, etc.)

  • Must be available weekends and holidays as needed

  • Required ability to follow detailed instructions to the letter

  • Must have access to reliable transportation for home visits

 

Preferred:

  • Previous experience training animals

  • Ability to work overnight hours

  • Pet care certification or willingness to take courses

  • Previous pet-related volunteer work or shelter-care experience

  • Experience with both cats and dogs

  • Knowledge of pet behavior and body language

Dog Walker

You keep 100% of your tips.

We are looking for a reliable Dog Walker to walk dogs according to times specified by dog owners.  The Dog Walker’s responsibilities include safely transporting dogs to and from their homes, providing clean water and food as required, and wiping dogs’ paws after every walk.  You should also be able to seek immediate veterinarian attention should any dog become sick or injured while under your care such as heat stroke, frostbite, allergic reactions or attacks from other animals.

 

To be successful as a Dog Walker, you should be able to walk multiple dogs of various sizes and breeds.  Ultimately, a top-performing Dog Walker will comply with clients' special requests, and ensure that all dogs are treated with love and care.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Walking multiple dogs in various weather conditions.

  • Conducting consultations with new clients and completing client information forms.

  • Regularly recording information specifying which dogs were walked, the duration of the walks, and if there were any unusual or abnormal observations.

  • Safely transporting dogs to and from their homes.

  • Picking up and disposing of pet waste.

  • Ensuring that all dogs have fresh water and food as required.

  • Completing dog walk visits using Time To Pet, providing a detailed report including pictures of their pet.

  • Taking all necessary precautions to ensure that the dogs and those around them are safe.  Keep them off lawns and other people and dogs while on the walk.

  • Notifying the manager and pet owner if dogs become sick or injured before, during, or after walks.

 

Dog Walker Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Proven experience working with dogs

  • Working knowledge of positive reinforcement training

  • Sound understanding of dog behavior

  • Available to walk dogs during peak walking times of 11am-2pm Mon-Fri

  • The ability to walk for long periods of time

  • Patient, punctual, and reliable

  • Trustworthy and responsible

 

Preferred:

  • Previous experience walking dogs

  • Knowledge of dog behavior and body language

  • Pet care first aid and CPR, or willingness to take courses
